I am happy to report that indeed it is, but you really have to be careful when you start out. There are hundreds of legitimate companies out there looking for shoppers, but there are almost just as many scams out there that you have to watch out for. When you visit the Mystery Shopping Providers Association’s website, you can find out who you should shop for, and who has been a problem in the past. Even some legitimate companies out there have at one time or another had a problem, and you can find warnings for these as well. If you want to know if an offer for mystery shopping is real, or if it is a scam, you have to check in with the Mystery Shopping Providers Association to find out. If anyone knows what is going on, they do.
When you begin shopping, remember that you should never have to pay a fee to sign up with a company. If someone wants money from you to sign up, they are a scam. Step away and look somewhere else. Because there are so many mystery shopping scams out there, you can never be too careful. You may run across a site that tries to talk you into paying for useless information. Be wary, and check with the Better Business Bureau if in doubt.
